I Put A Ring On It!
We arrived into Paris the most romantic city in the world on a summers morning. Little did she know about my intentions, she thought it was a break, a long weekend away from home.
Paris: Day 1
We arrived, very early in the morning, so early we couldn’t check in just yet. We took the Metro to the location of our hotel dropped our bags off and began wondering the streets of Paris.
Paris: Day 2
We decided to take to the Metro and see where it would take us. With a rough idea on the whereabouts of main attractions, we accidentally stumbled across the Eiffel Tower. There it was standing tall in all it’s architectural glory. Surrounded by crowds of people with their cameras, mobiles and selfie sticks.
From here, we carried on our journey via the water we boarded the Batobus (a tourist boat company) and went upstream to the wonderful Notre Dame. This stunning stone structure stood tall. We entered, hand in hand into this truly blessed building. Soaking in the details, from the candles & stained glass, to the pillars and arches that created this monument. I knew this is where I was going to propose, now I just had to figure out how and where.
You cannot visit Paris and not see the famous Mona Lisa right? This where day two was spent, in and around the Louvre admiring the works of some incredible artists, enjoying phenomenal pastries and ice cream, soaking up the French culture in all it’s glory.
Paris: Day 3
The early morning smell of coffee and freshly baked baguettes was enough to get us up and out of bed without any hesitation. Raring to go, we found ourselves at Notre Dame again. I knew where I wanted to go, and how I was going to propose. I had to make sure I got this right. Rather than going back inside, I decided to take a different approach and got in the queue to go up, so we could see more of the structure, but more importantly all of Paris. Beejie was excited, and decided to run as fast as she could up the stairs, she wanted to be the first up there, nervously I was trying to convince her that there was no rush to get up and down from the top so soon.
At the top…
my heart was pounding, hands clammy, my head was all over the place. What was I going to say? How was I going to say it? Nervous and out of breath from the rushed climb to the top, I looked for Beejie, there she was out of breath, and struggling to breathe, her asthma kicked in, good and proper and suddenly there was a massive shift in priority. Was she okay? Does she need a doctor? She managed to calm down and catch her breath. That was it, no more taking chances, I looked around and took in the view for a brief moment while Beejie was recovering before turning and facing her and I just dropped to one knee, I looked up at her and took her hand, her touch made the hair on my neck stand up, I asked her if she would marry me and
She did me the wonderful honour of saying yes (insert heart emoji here)!
And at least I can say she was left breathless!
Paris: Day 4
Waking up together as a newly engaged couple made me feel warm and fuzzy, we spent the evening up the Eiffel Tower while it illuminated Paris. Under it’s glittery light show we embraced each other and held each other close knowing that our souls were meant to be together. We left Paris the happiest people alive.
